In this first episode made jointly by the Alliance Française de Glasgow and the Institut Français d'Ecosse, Jerome Richalot travels to Scotland's capital to meet Secretary General Etienne Louys and has a taster of the IF's new wine workshop with teacher Maurice Mallet. Back in Glasgow, Jerome hears about the Brough Lodge project in Shetland as Scottish musicians Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham prepare for a fundraising concert at the Alliance.

We step back in time to retrace the journey of Jules Verne through Glasgow's West End with Ian Thomson and visit the Hunterian Art Gallery with curator Anne Dulau to look at two paintings by French artists and one by a Scottish artist heavily influenced by Impressionism.
